"There are critics who say that we don't do concerts, or anything, in Dénia." With this phrase the Councilor for Culture introduced the presentation of Dénia's cultural programming for the summer, Raúl García de la Reina. In front of him, several posters could be seen displayed as a silent response to that statement. Because that is what the City Council wanted the aforementioned presentation to consist of, a forceful response to those supposed criticisms received.
Like every year, Dénia has filled the agenda with cultural events for all tastes. The popular is back Cine Vora Mar with recently released films for the whole family (July 21 to August 25), also the ever-growing Jazz Festival (in the Torrecremada gardens on August 1, 8, 17 and 23) and the already advanced Music Castell (whose tickets are being purchased at high speed and will soon hang the sign of Sold Out in its main performances). And furthermore, the traditional proposals of Festival Cantada d'Havaneres, who is turning 25 years old, and the longest Dénia International Folk Dance Show, who turns 31.
But they are not the only ones, because the Sonafilm will make a stop in Dénia again, this time to pay tribute to the series from the 80s. It will be on August 9 at the Auditori del Center Social. Another cinephile quote: the XIII Riurau Film Festival It will take place on August 24 (in the Torrecremada gardens) and August 25 (at the Teatre Auditori del Center Social). And if it doesn't seem like much cinema, De la Reina has announced that throughout the summer, until September 2, you can enjoy an exhibition on La Via Street about Georges Méliés and the cinema of 1900.
Culture at Parc de les Bassetes
As usual, in summer the Bassetes park becomes very important as it is the setting for one of the most popular and diverse cultural agendas. This year it brings back cinema, with the screening of the blockbuster, and in some municipalities censored, Barbie on July 31. However, the program begins with the now traditional charanga concert, where an attempt is made to bet on a local formation. This time it will be on July 17 by Cachorras Band. On August 7, Reina Roja's flmaneco-pop concert will take place, the 14th Connecta Percussió Quartet concert and on the 21st, to finish, a new film screening: Gran Turismo. All appointments will start at 22:30 p.m.
