This is how the West fault will be planted in the uneven Valgamedís square in Dénia

11 March 2022 - 10: 23

The controversy over the redevelopment of the Valgamedís square in Dénia reaches the end of its journey. Or, at least, for now, because one of the biggest concerns resulting from the questioned work seems to have been resolved.

Let's put ourselves in context. When the works in the Valgamediós square were finished, the falleros of the Western district, whose monument is erected every year at that point, observed incredulously how the resulting work did not coincide with the project that was presented. Instead of having pedestrianized the area at a single height, as had been announced, a central platform was created, as a roundabout, at a different height from the roads that surrounded it, one of them being pedestrian but maintaining the asphalt and the level original. The width of this elevation, too narrow, prevented it from serving as a base for any monument.

From the City Council they assured on different occasions that it was only the first phase of the project, although the finishes indicated that it was a finished work. In the same way, they indicated several times that work would be done to unify the square at the same height and that it would be before failures finished the job. The failures were delayed several times, these works too, so we reached March 2022 and everything remains the same.

The council had already assumed it months ago, holding various meetings with the West Commission and reaching an agreement that has materialized today. In the problematic section that remained a foot below the rest of the square, which was part of the Ronda de les Muralles road and is now a pedestrian road, a temporary concrete patch has been placed this Friday, the cost of which has been assumed by the City Council, which is expected to dry out in the next few days to resist one of the largest faults in the city.

Once this is fire grass, it will be chopped and removed. And, if everything goes as expected, next year the monument could be planted with the Valgamediós square finally finished.

What a way to spend taxpayer money. Let those who have not done their homework pay for it.

Let the falleros pay out of their pocket, that work is for them. As it was done in the past if they want to respect the tradition that they pay for it. Here the real party is at the grantee festival.
