The Third Section of the Provincial Court of Alicante has sentenced to six years and three months in prison, for a crime of trafficking in human beings in concurrence with a crime of sexual exploitation and for a crime against the rights of foreign citizens, to a woman for bringing three people to Spain from South American countries and forcing them to work as prostitutes in flats in Elche, Dénia and Benidorm so that they would settle an alleged debt they had contracted with her and her “organization”.

Instead, the sentence has acquitted her for lack of evidence of two other crimes of trafficking in human beings in competition with sexual exploitation and of the crimes of belonging to a criminal group and against public health, of which she was also accused.

On the other hand, the Chamber has imposed four months in prison for a crime against the rights of foreign citizens to another woman, a friend of one of the victims, who put her in contact with the main defendant and helped transfer her from the airport from Madrid to Benidorm.

The events occurred in October 2018, when the victims, a man and a woman from Colombia and another woman of Venezuelan nationality, contacted the convicted person, who told them how to get to Spain, sent them the plane ticket and provided an economic amount so that they could justify that they were traveling as tourists.

Once in Benidorm, the pimp announced to them that they had contracted a debt between 7.000 and 7.500 euros with her organization, which they had to return to them through the exercise of prostitution in the apartment in which they had taken them in, and in other residences of Elche and Dénia. He took away at least one of the victims' passport, did not let her leave the house and threatened to harm her or her family if she did not comply with these demands.

On October 29, the National Police entered and searched the apartment in Benidorm where the victims told them about this situation. The agents also seized more than seven and a half grams of cocaine in the living room of the house, whose origin could not be proven.
