Dénia Bàsquet SUMA BPM Lighting puts in its best performance and defeats the Ontinyent team

16 2025 April - 09: 28

Dénia Bàsquet SUMA BPM Lighting played one of its most complete matches of the season by beating ESET ONTINET of Ontinyent in the last home match, played at the Joan Fuster pavilion.

After certifying their relegation to the 1st National Division last week on the Lucentum court, the Dianense team, now without pressure, offered their best version on the court with a solid and constant game throughout the forty minutes, with hardly any concessions to their opponents.

Despite the absences of Miquel Server, Adrián Pérez, and Richard García, Eduardo Clavero and Xavi Díaz's team were not affected by the absences. The outstanding performance of juniors José Zapata and Derek David was key to maintaining the competitive pace throughout the match.

The home team dominated from the opening tip, leveling the rebound battle and significantly improving their accuracy from the free throw line, one of their most troublesome areas this season. At halftime, the lead was already thirteen points (48-35), having reached a maximum of sixteen.

After the break, ESET ONTINET tightened their defense and managed to put Dénia's team under pressure. Little by little, the lead dwindled to a tight 69-68 with just six minutes remaining, raising fears of another defeat despite the strong performance.

However, the home team knew how to react with skill. Two baskets after offensive rebound by Jordi Soler and Daniel Perez, added to a counterattack completed by Iván Alexandrov and a solid defense, allowed Dénia Bàsquet to open up a gap again sufficient to close the game with a well-deserved victory.

One of the day's key players was Dani Pérez Palomares, who posted an impressive triple-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, achieving a +31 rating that underscores his excellent season.

The competition will be suspended next week for the Easter break and will resume on Friday, April 25 in Elx, at 20:30 p.m., with the final match of the season.
