Dénia Bàsquet SUMA loses to Rigalli Alginet

11 March 2025 - 09: 50

Rigalli Alginet was far superior to Dénia Bàsquet SUMA BPM LIGHTING in the match corresponding to matchday 20 of the Third FEB league, played last Sunday in Valencia.

The objectives of both clubs are diametrically opposed. While the hosts were fighting to reach one of the top two places in the group at the end of the season and thus gain access to the promotion phase to Segunda FEB, a category from which they were relegated last season, Eduardo Clavero and Xavi Díaz's team were working to avoid the last two that would return the team to Nacional, after the promotion achieved last June in Canals.

The match was only tied for the first ten minutes (22-14), a time in which the rebounding was balanced and Dénia's team managed to reach their basket with enough effectiveness to compensate for the ball losses they were forced to commit.

The home team's entry onto the court in the second period with a much more intense defense, completely tilted the game in their favor, giving the Dianenses an incontestable partial of 16-2 in the first five minutes without being able to find a way to get back into the game.

A time-out and a rotation of the bench allowed the team to react, at least without allowing the gap to continue to grow until the break (48-24).

The resistance would continue for the first five minutes of the third period. With great effort they contained the obvious superiority of the Valencians, with great minutes from pivot Jordi Soler. But when they again toughened up their defense and added the success from the triple that they had been lacking until then, they gave another stretch to their advantage on the scoreboard (79-45).

With the match decided, both benches gave minutes to all their players. While Alginet wanted to play happily and enjoy themselves in front of their fans, Clavero's men relied on pride to prevent the gap from growing as little as possible until the match was over, giving value to every minute of the match.

The Dénia Club highlights the return of Jorge Climent after three months off the pitch due to injury, and the debut, with a goal included, of Junior Diego Marín in the Third FEB, becoming the seventeenth player to play with the team's shirt this season.

Richard Garcia, meanwhile, played only a few minutes to test himself after suffering a sprained ankle just two weeks ago, while Ivan Alexandrov, injured, was unable to take part in the game, as was Soufyane Sadoki, who served his second match suspension. Adrian Perez felt unwell due to an intestinal virus and was only able to take part in the first few minutes of the match, before being forced to rest.

Too many handicaps to hope to surprise a rival of this power, but one that they never gave up on.

The next day will be a rest day for Dénia Bàsquet. After this, the last five matches of the season will take place, in which they will try to get the victories necessary to achieve permanence in the category.

They will start off by visiting Real Murcia's pitch, receive a visit from CB Sueca, travel to Alicante to face Lucentum, host the team from Ontinyent and finish the season in Elche. A very difficult schedule that will test the strength of a group that will undoubtedly give its best to achieve the dream goal.

They played and scored: Adrià Vives (5), Nacho Ots (10), Daniel Perez (14), Jordi Soler (19) and Adrián Pérez (-) – starting five – Diego Marín (2), José Zapata (6), Richard García (-), Jorge Climent (-) and Miquel Server (9).
