Dénia is the second municipality in the Community that receives the most money from the Cooperation Fund for tourist municipalities

May 24 from 2023 - 19: 39

The regional secretary for Tourism, Francesc Colomer, and the general director of Tourism, Herick Campos, this morning accompanied a representation of the candidacy of the Socialists of Dénia, headed by Vicent Grimalt, in a meeting with the board of directors and associates of AEHTMA (Association of Tourism Entrepreneurs and Innkeepers of the Marina Alta).

Colomer has taken advantage of this meeting to announce that Dénia will be this year the second Tourist Municipality that receives the most money from the specific line of the Municipal Cooperation Fund, only behind Benidorm. €230.000 has been allocated to the city in 2023, which means an increase in this aid of around €90.000 compared to the amount assigned to Dénia in 2022 (€140.855).

Since the creation in 2020 of this specific fund for tourist locations, Dénia has received €654.000.

This increase in endowment coincides with the recognition of the city, since January 2021, as a Tourist Municipality of the Valencian Community, a distinction that is granted to those towns that meet a series of requirements related to sustainability, intelligence in the knowledge and management systems, hospitality, the code of ethics, the valorization of the territory and the landscape, the relevance of culture, the signs of identity and local tradition and the cooperation and participation of local entities and organizations in a new model of governance.

In this sense, the regional Secretary of Tourism has highlighted the effort of Dénia and all its tourist agents to meet these demands, "which are the path to excellence, virtue, and Dénia has far exceeded them." "Let's also remember that Dénia has achieved practically everything in terms of European funds," said Francesc Colomer, referring to the 7 million euros of the Next Generation of the 2021 and 2022 Destination Tourism Sustainability Plans and the Viu la project. Posidonia.

For his part, Vicent Grimalt, Socialist candidate for mayor and current mayor and councilor for Dénia Tourism, has thanked "Francesc, Herick and the entire Valencian Community Tourism team for the attention and affection they have always devoted to Dénia", which , among other contributions from the Generalitat, receives more than €200.000 annually for the celebration of the D*na Gastronomic Festival.

Colomer has also dedicated a few words of recognition to the work of AEHTMA, "because everything is easy in good times, of growth, but when everything goes wrong, and we have had a very bad time with the pandemic, at those times this association fought exceptional for the aid to reach the companies and to provide them with all the necessary support”.

"Without you, tourism governance would make no sense," concluded the regional secretary.
