Dénia is one of the 5 municipalities that compete to be the Best Gastronomic Destination of National Geographic

The prestigious National Geographic Travel magazine holds this year the 1st Edition of its Readers Awards. Among the many categories that appear, is the Best Gastronomic Destination, where Dénia has slipped in to compete against four other municipalities.

In a context in which a notable recovery of tourism is expected, these awards are convened to encourage the spirit of travel and the desire to discover and appreciate new destinations.

For this, according to the magazine, destinations, routes and hotel establishments that share similar values ​​with National Geographic Travel have been carefully selected, such as innovation, work on the continuous improvement of tourism quality and the excellence of services; to ensure that the traveler enjoys unforgettable experiences.

The finalists have been classified into ten different categories described in the March magazine and on the National Geographic Travel website. At the national level, there are those for Best Urban Destination, Best Natural Destination, Best Beach Destination, Best Gastronomic Destination, Best Gastronomic Route, Best Urban Hotel and Best Hotel in a Natural Environment. In the international arena; Best European Destination, Best Latin American Destination and Best International Destination.

It will be the readers and followers who will be able to choose their favorites until March 19, 2023, through the votes made on the web National Geographic Travel; and that began on February 17, 2023.

Dénia opts for Best Gastronomic Destination

In the category of Best Gastronomic Destination, Dénia will compete with four other municipalities also famous for their culinary and hotel proposals. Among its competitors is Burgos, also a UNESCO Creative Gastronomic City, as well as Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Sigüenza and Tolosa.
