The Department of Sports of the Ajuntament de Dénia has organized for next Friday, March 7, a day of school competition of Valencian pilota in the modalities of raspall and one-wall aimed at educational centres in Dénia. The Maria Ibars, Sorts de la Mar and Historiador Chabás institutes and the Maristas, Scientia and Paidos will participate in this event, which has the collaboration of the Valencian Pilota Federation and the Dénia Pilota Club. The aim is to bring the practice of this traditional sport closer to young people and to encourage coexistence between students from the different centres in the town.
The event, which will take place at the trinquet The Rovellet and in the large fronton from 9:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m., it will include raspall games and an explanation of the game. one-wallIn addition to the competition, there will be workshops and talks given by professional pelotaris Tomás II (Juan Bautista Buigues) and Néstor Portes. Students from IES Historiador Chabás will be in charge of organizing and directing the activities, with mixed teams of five players from 1st and 2nd year of ESO.

With 47 teams confirmed to be taking part, it is hoped that this event will be the first in a series of activities that will be expanded in the future and include more courses.
