Dénia will be able to condition and maintain more public spaces and green areas

This week the start of the bidding process for the clearing, maintenance and conditioning service contract for municipally owned public areas in the Dénia district has been approved. The Local Government Board has published the budget for this tender, which is 233.462,51 euros, including VAT.

One of the most notable aspects is that the duration of the contract is extended from one to two years. But it will not only increase that, but the new contract includes various other improvements: it will increase the number of annual clearings; the human resources assigned to the service; the work machinery, as well as the areas to be covered. In this way, the north and west slopes of the castle and two other areas inside the monument, San Vicente de la Roqueta street and the vegetation area of ​​the San Nicolás curve. This will make the conditioning zones rise to 44 in the term.

As indicated by the Councilor for Parks and Gardens, Pepe Doménech, this contract pursues three clear objectives: “To have a planning and regularization of the works of clearing and cleaning of public areas; improve the capacity to respond to complaints or incidents and, finally, complement the regular actions with other specific ones for conditioning and improvement”.

Works to be carried out specified in the specifications

• Periodic manual clearing or with a brushcutter in areas where it is impossible or inappropriate to use heavy machinery (areas with very dense vegetation, terrain with significant slopes or irregularities, areas close to trees, etc.).
• Clearing with lawn mowers and mulching for small and medium extensions in which the orography allows it.
• Clearing with heavy machinery.

On the other hand, the contractor will be responsible for the removal of the remains and their management, transferring them to authorized landfills and, in the case of plant material, to the municipal composting plant.

Despite the fact that the clearing work will be carried out periodically throughout the year, the specifications point out that the areas to be cleared will have to be finished by the end of June. In this way, the danger of fire will be minimized, as well as the possible inconvenience during the summer tourist season.
