Dénia presents the 'En femení' 2025 cycle, a cultural showcase created by women.

The Dénia City Council's Department of Culture has organized a new edition of the series "En femení. Cultura hecha por mujeres" (In Feminine. Culture Made by Women), an initiative that seeks to highlight the work and contributions of women to the world of culture through a program featuring female artists from different disciplines.

The series will take place in the Social Center auditorium from May 9 to 30. All performances begin at 20:00 PM. Tickets are on sale for €5 and can be purchased in advance through the platform www.notikumi.com or at the box office, one hour before each performance.

  • Prelude: Guitar also in feminineAs a prelude to the festival, the "Guitar in Feminine" concert will be held on Friday, April 25th at the Dénia Cultural Center at 19:30 p.m., with free admission. The concert will feature young guitarists Marta Andreu Bernat, Irene Sala Hernández, and Empar Sánchez Muñoz. The concert is organized by Friends of the Guitar of Diània in collaboration with the Joaquín Rodrigo Conservatory of Music of Valencia and Dénia City Council.
  • May 9 – Nevenka playThis play, based on the true story of Nevenka Fernández, a former councilor for Ponferrada City Council and a victim of sexual and workplace harassment by the mayor, opens the series. At 24, Nevenka decided to report the incident, despite the social and personal consequences. Her case was the first in Spain in which a woman won a lawsuit for harassment against a politician, sparking the #MeToo movement in the country before the term even existed. The play, written and directed by María Goiricelaya, was a finalist at the 2024 Max Awards for Best Director and Best Playwriting, and won the 2024 Lorca Awards (Best Actress: Gema Matarranz, Best Actor: Alex Furundarena).
  • May 16 – Singer of Alba CarmonaSinger, composer, and oral tradition researcher Alba Carmona presents her second solo album, Cantora, a tribute to folk songs, accompanied by Jesús Guerrero on guitar. Throughout the concert, she explores different genres, languages, and styles, fusing the traditional with her own.
  • May 23 – Letter from an Unknown Woman. Adaptation of Stefan Zweig's short story (1922), starring Rossana Martínez, who also co-directs with Fernando Soler. After the death of her son, a woman writes a letter to the man she has always loved to confess a deep secret. A beautiful, painful, melancholic, and passionate confession.
  • May 30 – Pelvic of OtraDanza: A contemporary dance piece directed and choreographed by Asun Noales, conceived, performed, and choreographed by women. It reflects on the body, its construction, its movement, and its ownership in relation to gender.

Complementary activities

May 2-30 – Video Performance: Dear Old Ladies. Editing GombrichAt the Joan Castejón Art Space (Casa de Cultura), artist María Gimeno presents this performance that vindicates the place of women artists in the history of art. Through a reinterpretation of the book The History of Art by E.H. GombrichGimeno "makes space" for traditionally excluded female creators, symbolically inserting them with the help of a kitchen knife. Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday, 18:00 PM to 20:00 PM; Saturday, 11:30 AM to 13:30 PM.
