The Mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and the mayor of La Unión (Murcia) and president of the Cante de las Minas Foundation, Pedro López Milan, have signed the collaboration agreement by which Dénia becomes the venue for a selective test of applicants to participate in the LXI Festival International Cante de las Minas, held from July 28 to August 6, 2022.

The selective tests in Dénia will be on June 18, starting at 19:30 p.m., in the auditorium theater of the Social Center, where the public will be able to enjoy “a very complete show, with applicants in the categories of cante, toque , dance and instrumentalists”, stated the president of the Cante de las Minas Foundation, Pedro López Milán.

López Milan thanked the Dénia City Council and the city's Peña Flamenca for "the opportunity to spread our unique flamenco, which emerged from the songs born in the mountains, in the bowels of the earth". "And that is precisely what the festival defends: vindicating that way of expressing themselves of the miners, that way of fighting for life" he added.

The president of the foundation has recalled that the Cante de las Minas Festival “”is the oldest in existence, as well as the most important at the competition level”; underlining, in turn, that the Dénia public that attends the selective test show will find a high level and "could be seeing who will be winners or finalists of the festival".

The mayor of Dénia, for his part, stressed that "today is an important day for the cultural panorama of the city, since this collaboration agreement incorporates a high-level event into our cultural offer, which unites the name of Dénia with one of the most important flamenco festivals in the world”.

They have also attended the presentation and signing of the agreement the Councilor for Dianense Culture, Raúl García de la Reina, and the coordinator and director of External Relations of the festival, Juan Carlos López.
