Dénia returns to the fair despite the rain that caused floods and landslides

25 October 2021 - 10: 45

In the end, time has allowed us to enjoy the weekend in Dénia and that the neighbors will meet again with the long-awaited Fira de Tots Sants. However, during Friday and the first hours of Saturday the sky did not show much for the work, causing different incidents in the municipality.

The rains began during the early hours of Friday, when a strong electrical storm arrived accompanied by heavy rainfall. They were present with intensity throughout the day, but also during the first hours of Saturday, dawn that day with closed streets and intermittent rain.

There was an accumulation of 116 liters per square meter during Friday, but on Saturday 53 were also collected. The rain caused this last day on Elx Street to collapse part of the skeleton of a building. Fortunately, it did not affect the adjoining houses, although the area had to be delimited due to landslides.

However, the sun little by little prevailed and made an appearance after noon, clearing the skies that were much kinder with a long-awaited appointment: the Fira de Tots Sants. The autumn fair has been waiting to meet again with the neighbors since 2019, since the last edition had to be suspended due to the coronavirus. This time it did not start on a very good footing either, since its inauguration, scheduled for Friday, had to be postponed due to rainfall. However, it was compensated with a Children's Day on Saturday that filled every attraction on the Torrecremada esplanade.
