"The government team's desire to raise taxes"

23 October 2024 - 14: 54

The government team has announced that by 2025 the rubbish tax will increase from the current 140 euros to a minimum of 162,84 euros in the urban area and up to 175 euros in Mongó and 181 euros in Monte Pego.

According to the governing team, this increase is due to a European regulation that requires a rate per ton generated. Without further ado, the governing team presents a fixed rate (110 euros/house) and adds a variable rate whose amount depends on the 'cadastral zone' in which the house is located and the distance or collection route.

The criteria applied refer only to the cadastral and location characteristics, ignoring the obvious fact that it is neither the size nor the location of a dwelling that determines the waste it generates, but the people who live there. As we already said in the Municipal Plenary: "Bricks and plots do not generate waste, but people do." Ignoring this fact is perverting the principle of equity.

Dénia is not cleaner than it was a few years ago, however the rate for the provision of the service has increased by 66% since 2013. We do not believe that this is what the citizens of Dénia deserve, already punished enough with increases in rates of all kinds such as the IBI and others. Increasing the tax burden on citizens cannot be the only way to cover the budget for the service, efficient management would be much more desirable.

Gent of Dénia demands that, rather than raising the rate so blithely, the rationalization of the service should be studied by lowering the fixed rate and calculating the variable rate accurately. The priority should be to improve the service and improve the cleanliness of our city. The main objective should be not to increase the tax burden on our residents.

We must take into account that there are many areas where second homes predominate and there are many months in which these areas generate much less waste. The service must be rationalised: Study which routes can be reduced in the low season and achieve lower costs, gaining efficiency in management.

We must modernise, reward recycling as in neighbouring countries, with selective collection machines at points such as supermarkets that encourage recycling. There are many possible alternative routes, before continuing to hammer citizens' pockets.

Gent de Dénia encourages the governing team to abandon the easy path of increasing the burden on citizens and to take a more creative path that rewards efficiency in procedures, aligned with Agenda 2030. The primary objective must always contemplate the well-being of our neighbours. We assure you that a permanent increase in rates and taxes is not what citizens want. Think again.

Instead of raising the rate, couldn't they finance it by reducing the budget for other items that do not contribute anything to the citizen who pays taxes, such as DNA?

Another bad management, they only know how to take money from us... it doesn't occur to them to save on expenses, why don't they ask how they do in Valencia to lower the IBI tax, there is no rubbish, etc. In short, it is a disgrace to have these people in the government, we are already seeing on a national scale how the issue is going, white and in bitella

It seems that the increase is the work of Mr. Sánchez's government. I have read that in Madrid, Mr. Almeida, faced with the dissatisfaction and the desire to collect taxes of this government, has decided to lower the IBI again to compensate for the continuous loss of taxes by citizens. You know, collect, collect... this seems to be the way some people have to then give to those who esteem them. Favors are repaid. That seems to be the case.

We can also save costs together by placing waste IN the right containers. We often see that there is no proper separation and that a lot of waste is placed next to the containers for convenience. This causes mess and inconvenience. There are more than enough options to dispose of waste correctly, together we are strong.

Why don’t they reduce URBASER’s remuneration??. I agree that there are a lot of “dirty and irresponsible” people who take out the rubbish they don’t want in their houses at night, that when they throw out glass “some of it escapes and breaks” and the glass is left on the ground “dangerously”, but also when the truck arrives to empty the containers, all the “shit” that it releases during “the flight of the container” (because it flies about 4 meters) the operator is incapable of getting down with a brush to sweep up all that rubbish. And so on and so forth… !! Not everything has to be assumed by the citizen!!

Very expensive and poor service all year round but especially in summer…
