The Councilor for Festivals, Raúl García de la Reina, clarifies the controversy over the new Bous a la Mar square in Dénia

05 July 2024 - 13: 13

The councilor of Parties Dénia, Raúl García de la Reina, has used his social networks to address several crucial aspects surrounding the organization of the Bous a la Mar and the imminent Festivals of the Sang Santíssima. In his publication, García de la Reina begins by highlighting the municipal government's commitment to animal welfare, emphasizing that any measure adopted seeks to guarantee this principle, even if it involves reducing the frequency of events or modifying their traditional format.

In response to criticism and doubts that have recently arisen about the safety and conditions of the new bullring, the councilor clarifies that this infrastructure has been rigorously inspected and certified by both the construction company and municipal technicians. Likewise, he dismisses the speculations that he suggests are unfounded that call into question the suitability of the place, emphasizing that all measures have been adopted within the legal framework and under strict regulations of the Valencian Community. «Let us no longer fall into the crude maneuver of questioning the work of professionals for political interests; "Not everything goes," he criticizes, and points directly a recent publication by Pepa Font, leader of the Popular Party of Dénia, on that question: «Taking a photo of a wooden wedge that simply serves to level the square and trying to turn this into a big 'state' issue, is quite sad and irresponsible»

García de la Reina also explains the reasons behind the decision to build a new plaza, arguing that the old one, owned by the City Council, generated increasing maintenance and operating costs. Additionally, he mentions the logistical burden on the municipal brigade, which required weeks to assemble and dismantle the structure, affecting the municipality's ability to meet other needs during the summer.

The councilor has pointed out that security and legality have been priorities from the beginning of the process, and urges people to focus on enjoying the Festa Major de Dénia, highlighting the diversity of scheduled events that go beyond the Bous a la Mar, including music, theater, children's activities and discomobiles for young people.

And it also deserves better opposition than someone who dedicates himself to traveling around the city to find possible imperfections, often inconsistent, to blame for the simple pleasure of annoying.

Mrs. Font, I'm sure you have more important things to do and much more productive than focusing on a wooden wedge that, I'm sure, is not what keeps the bullring standing.
