The Dénia International Red Shrimp Creative Cooking Competition announces its date and opens its registrations

After a long history of successes with expert chefs and exceptional raw materials, the International Creative Cuisine Competition for Red Prawns from Dénia is already taking the first steps towards its thirteenth edition. Next Tuesday, March 25, the Municipal Market of Dénia will start up the stoves so that chefs from all over the country can give their special touch to a dish with the red prawn from Dénia as the exceptional protagonist.

The contest, organized by the Association of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of the Marina Alta (AEHTMA), in collaboration with the Dénia City Council, has managed to position itself as a first-rate culinary event within the national calendar and is calling on professional chefs who are linked to a hospitality company or a gastronomy training centre to participate in order to create an original and exquisite proposal.

Those interested in participating in the contest must register, at the latest, by March 10, 2025 through the online form available at the contest website, where you can also consult the complete rules, presenting in detail what their culinary proposal will be to enhance the magnificent properties of the red shrimp from Dénia.

From that date, once the registration period has closed, a jury of professionals and food critics will determine the eight proposals worthy of moving on to the grand final of the competition, which will be officially published on the competition website on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 20:00 p.m.

These eight culinary ideas about Dénia's red prawn will be put to the test live and under the rules of the competition on 25 March. At the Dénia Municipal Market, the chefs will put all their culinary skills to the test to design dishes that challenge the eye and the palate, highlighting the incomparable qualities of the star of this event, the Dénia red prawn.

A jury made up of prestigious chefs, critics and cooking experts will determine which dishes best capture the essence of Dénia's red prawns and will name three winners who will each receive €2.500 for first place, €1.500 for second place and €1.000 for third place, along with a sculpture by Toni Marí.

As in previous editions, the XIII International Creative Cuisine Competition of the Red Prawn of Dénia promises once again great and intense taste sensations for lovers of cooking and red prawns. A competition that is fully established on the national scene and that, year after year, attracts to its stoves relevant chefs with the mastery to enhance through their innovative recipes this star ingredient of the gastronomy of the Valencian Community.

    I just hope they fumigated before because there are cockroaches in every corner of the bars. You are having a quiet lunch and suddenly you see a couple of blond cockroaches crawling along the wall and hiding in the kitchen. I am not exaggerating or making anything up, even the people at the bar told me that they already knew there were cockroaches. I understand that public health comes into play with the products that can be used in the fumigation, since it is a place where fresh products are sold, but that is precisely why the issue of cockroaches should be taken seriously. They walk around the market, going up and down calmly.
