Dénia Bàsquet falls to UCAM Murcia, but maintains its chances of staying up

February 26 from 2025 - 11: 08

Dénia Bàsquet SUMA BPM LIGHTING was unable to maintain its positive streak and fell on its visit to the UCAM court after a match in which the locals made the difference in the second quarter and consolidated their victory in the final stretch (91-65).

The match started evenly, with a very competitive first quarter (21-20) in which both teams showed defensive intensity and alternations in the score. However, in the second period, UCAM managed to impose its game thanks to a great success in outside shooting and a suffocating defense that caused up to eight turnovers by the visiting team. In addition, the fight for the rebound, which had been balanced in the first minutes, leaned in favor of the Murcians, who took advantage of their greater physical capacity to open a gap in the score with a partial of 28-12, leaving the match at halftime with a clear 49-32.

After the break, the team led by Eduardo Clavero reacted with a great effort on both sides of the court, balancing the battle on the boards and forcing UCAM to commit up to seven losses in the third quarter. Thanks to this reaction, Dénia Bàsquet managed to reduce the deficit to twelve points (62-50), reviving its chances of fighting for victory.

However, in the last period, the home team once again imposed their rhythm. UCAM started with great success from the three-point line, converting five of their six outside shots, and regained control of the court. In just a few minutes, the difference widened to twenty points, leaving the visitors with no options. Added to this were the protests about the refereeing, which caused confusion in Clavero's team and made it easier for the Murcians to extend their advantage until the final result.

Despite the defeat, Dénia Bàsquet keeps its chances of staying up intact, since its direct rivals also fell on this day. Now, the team will focus on its next commitment, a crucial match against Klinik PM-Carolinas de Alicante on Saturday, March 1 at 19:30 p.m. at the Joan Fuster pavilion, where the support of the fans will be essential.

Played and scored: Soufyane Sadoki (3), Richard Garcia (2), Nacho Ots (12), Daniel Pérez (16) and Adrian Perez (7) -starting five- Adrià Vives (1), Jose Zapata (-), Jordi Soler (7) and Ivan Alexandrov (14).
