The international photography festival Ojos Rojos adds new stages in its fourth edition

17 March 2022 - 10: 19

The international festival of Spanish and Ibero-American photography Ojos Rojos celebrates its fourth edition in 2022, from March 18 to April 24, with Chile as the guest country. This week the festival was presented at the Dénia town hall with the participation of the members of the organization, Mili Sánchez, Mike Steel and Cristina de María-Tomé, from the Arteria Urbana association; the mayor of Denia, Vicent Grimalt; and the councilors of Culture of Dénia, Raúl García de la Reina, Y de XàbiaQuico Moragues.

Along with the change of dates -until now it was held in the months of September and October, but it has been moved "for logistical reasons"-, the Ojos Rojos 2022 festival brings with it other novelties that reflect its growth and consolidation.

To the usual venues of Dénia and Xàbia, Jesús Pobre joins this year, that its Center d'Art Al Pati will host the exhibition “Ay, madre”, by Benissera Rosa Sala, starting on March 20.

Dénia has also decided to go a step further in its commitment to the festival and will exhibit work in addition to the Calle Marques de Campo and Els Magazinos, in two municipal halls, the Center d'Art l'Estació and the House of Culture.

Starting on Friday, March 18, at the Center d'Art l'Estació we will be able to see a “very involving, different from what you can imagine” exhibition, with the proposal of Julián Barón and his “Magic Labyrinth”. And at the Casa de Cultura, José Luis Carrillo, a specialist in contemporary documentary photography, presents his exhibition “The children of the deer”, winner of a grant from the University of Cádiz to publish in the prestigious Kursala Notebooks collection.

The last weekend of March, the exhibitions "Tributo a las batas", by Lucía Herrero, which according to the organizers "will not leave anyone indifferent" and "La Rinconada", by the Chilean Magdalena, will be installed in Marqués de Campo. Belt.

Lastly, at Els Magazinos, from April 1, you can visit the exhibition “Real. Of the real places and the real places” by Teo Barba, another exponent of emerging Spanish photography.

In Xàbia, the exhibitions will be installed in the Ca Lambert municipal halls, the Soler Blasco Museum and the Casa del Cable; the Cactus Club&Shop and the Isabel Bilbao gallery. They are all interesting and very different proposals, although it is worth mentioning the presence of the Chilean Luis Poirot, a reference photographer, who, thanks to the collaboration of the Chilean Embassy in Spain and the Chile-Spain Foundation, will be present in Xàbia presenting his exhibition in the Soler Blasco Museum (opening on March 25, at 19:26 p.m.), where he will also give a talk entitled “A portrait”, on March 19, at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.

The program of the Ojos Rojos festival is completed with other talks and presentations, workshops, viewing of portfolios, a photographic market (Dénia, Marqués de Campo, April 16) and two family gymkhanas, in Dénia (April 14, Torrecremada park) and in Xàbia (April 15, Ca Lambert) so that the whole family, especially children and young people, get to know some of the characteristics of visual language in a playful and fun way.
