The photographic exhibition of Breastfeeding organized by the Nodrissa Group is exhibited in the CuidArt Room of the Hospital de Dénia from this month of March to mid-April.
It is a sample of the awarded photographs and a selection of the best images collected in the XXIV Edition of the Photographic Contest "Breastfeeding Marina Alta”, which took place during the first half of 2020.
The purpose of this Contest is to normalize breastfeeding in our society through photographs of mothers breastfeeding in everyday situations. Breastfeeding is a biological but also a cultural process and needs to be passed down from generation to generation.
In the Department of Health of Dénia, the culture of breastfeeding is implemented in all levels: from Primary, with care for pregnancy, to parenting training, through the help provided by midwives and nurses in delivery rooms and during hospitalization after delivery.
The Grup Nodrissa is a non-profit association that works to inform families of the benefits of breastfeeding, ensuring that mothers who decide to breastfeed their children do not find any impediment, and helping them during the first years of parenting.
That picture of the mother breastfeeding in that mask is disturbing to say the least. It's scarier than anything else. Women have always fed their children in this natural and simple way. What is happening today to have to photograph it like this?
