The Archaeological Museum of Dénia opens to the public with a new location and a modernized look with the use of new technologies

08 October 2024 - 21: 27

The new headquarters of the Dénia Archaeological Museum was inaugurated this Tuesday, now located in the Casa de la Marquesa (calle Cavallers, 3). The new museum, which collects the history of the town throughout the centuries under the title "Dianivm, Dãniya, Dénia… Una ciutat de mar estant", now presents an image adapted to the new times through the use of new technologies.

"The restoration of the Casa de la Marquesa is an example of the potential that our architectural heritage has to become spaces of culture and art," he said. Vicent Grimalt, Mayor of Dénia, at the opening ceremony, who highlighted the role of Next Generation funds in financing the project.

Raúl García de la Reina, Councillor for Culture, has expressed that providing modern facilities to the Archaeological Museum was "an old ambition of the different municipal governments". The councillor has mentioned that, despite the fact that the old location of this exhibition - at the top of the Castle of the city (area of the Palau del Governador) - was symbolic due to its significance, the room in the eastern gallery had become obsolete.

"This inauguration marks a new stage, a new way of explaining our history," added de la Reina.

Massu Sentí, head of the Department of Archaeology and Museums of the Dénia City Council, has explained the "serious updating" that the museum needed in matters of conservation and security, universal accessibility and "that would give vigor to a new exhibition discourse in harmony with the times."

Sentí He said that it is now an exhibition that is "permeable and intelligible to all audiences", in which new technologies play a leading role through the use of audiovisual resources, such as explanatory videos.

For its part, Sentí He explained that the former location of the museum in the castle It will now house an Interpretation Centre that will be inaugurated soon.

Visitors will therefore now find a new image of this historic exhibition located in Casa de la Marquesa: contemporary style, with large image and information panels and explanatory videos.

Starting tomorrow, free guided tours will be available on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. Afterwards, they will be available until the end of December on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. without the need for a reservation.

Hi, in the previous location in the castle there was a great collection of coins that I have missed in this new location.
What happened to her? It's been a while since I last uploaded the full collection, but I was hoping to see her again now.
Can anyone tell me why it hasn't been posted? Regards.
