The posidonia plate made in Jesús Pobre with which Dénia will give away in the protocol acts

07 June 2022 - 09: 00

Dénia City Council has carried out a unique initiative that combines the principles that inspire the Dénia Creative City of Gastronomy project with involvement in the protection and enhancement of posidonia. In this way, the passion for gastronomy, sustainability and preservation of the environment and creativity that support the Creative City project merge and materialize in a unique piece: a decorative plate, which the city council will offer as a gift in its protocol acts , handcrafted at the Magari Things Ceramics Workshop in Jesús Pobre, which uses posidonia in different phases of its creation process.

The plate evokes the bottom of the sea and is decorated with a primer of Posidonia leaves. Its firing has been carried out using the ancient Japanese technique "Raku", which consists of removing the piece from the red-hot oven and drowning it in a deposit of combustible materials, which, in this case, has been posidonia. To apply the enamel on its surface, the artisans of Magari Things built a brush made from the marine plant, so that its line would be printed on the plate. Finally, in the gift packaging, it rests on a bed of Posidonia.

In this way, explains the publication that accompanies the piece, "to defend the natural cycle of Posidonia from our beachesWe bring it back to life."

First dishes delivered

Mayor, Vicent Grimalt, delivered last week one of these dishes to the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition, Mireia Mollà, during her visit to Dénia to present the Posidonia Protection Surveillance Service.

He also presented a unique piece to the mayors of Eivissa and Cambrils, with whom he met the previous Monday in the first joint action of the three cities within the experiential ecotourism project "Vive la posidonia".

In Spain we have the habit of criticizing and even trying to ban everything that we don't like: People who like to hunt... to try to ban it, people who like to fish, to try to ban it, people who like to use companies, to try to ban it (I say this with all due respect to people). Since I don't like soccer...don't do it, since I don't like bullfighting, don't do it...that's the way it goes.
Right now from Culture and heritage a circular has been issued that prohibits the use of metal detectors on all the beaches of Denia. You can go to Jávea, yes, which has a Roman site 30 meters from the Arenal beach, or to Oliva, to many more, but you can't just use it in Denia.
It is the same to say that metal detectors only look for coins lost the day before in an arena that is usually filled, it is the same, the issue is trying to coerce what we do not like.
The curious thing is that the Provincial Service of coasts authorizes its use without any limit but Culture and Heritage, or I don't know that enlightened has set this limit without taking into account the opinion of these users.
Wouldn't it have been more effective to try to bring them all together and try to find some solution which would benefit both parties...? The day this is understood we will all win. Salu2.
