The Riurau Film Festival says goodbye, turning Dénia into an oasis of the best short films

This weekend, Dénia was the scene of the last leg of the 13th edition of the Riurau Film Festival, which took place in the Torrecremada Park and the Social Center Auditorium. For two days, attendees enjoyed a selection of short films that reflect the diversity and richness of current independent cinema.

The day on Saturday, August 24, began at 21:30 p.m. with a series of outdoor screenings in the Torrecremada Park. Among the featured short films were Macumbo by Christian Femenia i Reverte, Spider-Zan by Maryam Khodabakhsh, The first kiss by Miguel Lafuente, and Trolley by Luis Eduardo Pérez Cuevas. After a brief break, the programming continued with dance shorts such as Bringing Light to Life by Igor Krasik and Bruceremo Tutto Sanguinato by Giulia Hrvatin, culminating in works from other genres, including The guilty by María Guerra and The witness by Alberto Kampmann.

On Sunday, August 25, the festival began its activities at 11:00 a.m. in the Dénia Auditorium with the screening of El Nostre Cinema, a section dedicated to local cinema and sponsored by the Salom Sabar Foundation through its Impulsa Cultura program. . The short films Jerusalem by Marina Vázquez, Leftovers by Pablo Porcuna, Fish soup de Raquel Martí Signs, and Trolley by Luis Eduardo Pérez Cuevas, were followed by a round table on the current state and future of cinema in the Marina Alta, moderated by José María Fraguas.

The closing of the festival, also held in the Torrecremada Park at 21:30 p.m., featured the screening of the short films Icebreaker by Thomas Bauer, Broken wings by Jorik Dozy and Sil Van Der Woerd, The company by José María Flores, and The joc de l'oca by Ana María Ferri. The day culminated with the Grand Awards Gala, where the best short films of this edition were recognized.

The Riurau Film Festival thus closed one more edition, consolidating itself as a vital space for the dissemination and appreciation of independent cinema, both local and international, in the Valencian Community.

Palmarès of the 13th RRFF

On the evening of this Sunday, August 25 in Déni, the screenings ended with the presentation of the 17 awards and a mention given by the Riurau Film Festival in this 13th edition. Starting in Jesús Pobre on August 19 and 20, passing through Xàbia On the 21st and 22nd and ending in Dénia on the 25th, the tour that this festival takes around Montgó, almost 800 metres above the sea, which dominates the Marina Alta region, comes to a close.

The final screenings and the Awards Gala were attended by a large number of directors, producers and representatives of the 43 films in the official sections (Fiction and Dance Film), and left a good taste in the mouths of film buffs, both locals and holidaymakers, who, as always, came to the event with affection, but above all with the expectation of seeing good works in short films of up to 20 minutes.

The juries on this occasion were composed of:

Fiction Jury:Alberto Úbeda, Alicia Costa, José María Fraguas de Pablo, Ignacio Estrada and Vicent Buigues.

Dance Film Jury: members of the RRFF Dance Film Lab, members of the Dénia Coreographic Centre and Joan Bernat Pineda.
