Jessica Romero appealed to balance forces in the struggle for equality in his honor on Women's Day

The young Jessica, who in 1999 came to Dénia from Guayaquil (Ecuador) to try her luck and raise money, never imagined that 14 years later her life would change so much. On Friday 8 of March of 2013 was recognized by the City Council of Dénia on Women's Day for its tireless effort in the fight to improve the quality of life of her son and children who, like him, suffer from "rare" diseases.

In a simple but moving ceremony, Dénia paid tribute to this woman, who was accompanied by members of Ludai, association president, and numerous dianenses who wanted to be with him on such a special day.

The act began with the reading of the manifesto agreed by the Consell de la Dona by representatives of the Association of Housewives; the DIYAFA association of Maghrebi women and their friends from the Marina Alta; Motherland Women's Association; Infodona and Women in Business Club. In it he bet on "a policy of participatory, extensive and comprehensive equality, so that all people enjoy the same conditions and opportunities for participation in work, social, cultural, family and political life, without any discrimination".

Councilwoman equality, Pepa Sivera, presented Jessica as a strong, fighter, constant and "bighead" which has made Ludai recently recognized as the Marina Alta's Early Care Center. Sivera remembered all the women who work all year round inside and outside the home, and all the women who still suffer inequality just because they were women.

The star of the day could not help getting excited during his speech, which had words for her family, her husband and two children: Ainara and Alberto; her fellow Ludai and the city of Denia, which welcomed him with open arms from day one.

To finalize the act, the students of the ETC made a performance in which they staged the inequality in the salary between men and women and that ended with a resounding "Our hands are worth the same as yours."
