Baix la Mar Falla: location, photos and history

The Falla Baix la Mar is one of the oldest of the Dénia parties. Since 1947 her commission, with seafaring roots, has been supporting her during her best and worst years, until today, competing in the Special Category of the Fallas.

History

The March 20 1947, and after living the first plant of a falla in the center of Dénia, the falla del Tio Pep, a group of enthusiasts of the Valencian party met at the Neutro cafe to specify the creation of different fallas commissions in the city.

First commission and monument

The then commander of the Navy, Alfonso de Eguía Azcárate, led the creation of the Baix la Mar Maritime District falla. The place chosen for the planting of his monument was Pont Street, and the motto of that first falla, Bandolerisme. It was the month of March and the failure 1948 won first prize for his critical and artistic design.

A neighborhood overturned with the fault

In the first months of failure, the whole neighborhood got involved and counted even with the collaboration of the sailors, with the aim of helping the Commission implemented the cove, A fund of daily income from selling fish.

Stop and return to the party

After a promising start, the marine commission lived through some somewhat complicated years, and between 1956 and 1962 they did not plant a monument. Already in 1967, the fault was reorganized and since then it has not stopped planting monuments.

Location

The Baix la Mar fault began planting itself in Pont Street. Since 2008, and considering that Pont Street was too narrow, the fault has been planted at the intersection of Doctor Fleming and Sanchis Guarner streets.

Historic of charges of the Falla Baix la Mar

Since the 1947-48 Failures, the commission has always been represented at the head of its house. The first presidency was held by Francisco Armell Cheli, with Maruja Ferrer Cabrera being the first Fallera Mayor. The children's commission had to wait until the 53, when they were represented by Isabel Armell Martí and Jaume Agulles Llobell.
