Diana fails: her charges, history and first monuments

Every year, between March 17 and 19, Calle Pintor Llorens is filled with a party and the smell of gunpowder. This is the headquarters of one of the longest running commissions of the Fallas from Dénia, the one with the Diana fault.

Diana's Story

The Diana fault was born during the fallero exercise of 1974 and 1975, planting its first monument in March 1975. The new commission was born in a seafaring neighborhood, with people who worked on the high seas and reside in the two Grups of mariners.

Among its creators are Gabriel Perles, Salvador Ramis, Jaume Bosa, José Gimeno The kid, Paco Castro and Pablo Díaz, well-known people from the city of Dénia. The area where the monument is planted was, in its beginnings, a vacant lot that during the last third of the XNUMXth century evolved rapidly next to the Saladar neighbourhood, between the buildings that intersect on Calle Pintor Llorens and Avenida del Marquesado.

First monument

The first monument that was planted was crowned by a rudder whose criticism was about the economic problems that the members of the commission had to face at the time. This is due to the fact that their first president, born in Madrid, left them in the lurch and it was Pepe Ramis who led the falla during the holidays.

During the forty-two years of life, the Falla Diana has suffered ups and downs, but it stands out above all the efforts of the falleros who have fought to ensure that the festival does not decline in the district, raising its monuments every March until today.

Featured Fallero Artists

There are many fallero artists who have planted in Dénia, highlighting the beginnings of Pere Baenas as a craftsman and builder of monuments, such as the stage of the Miñana Brothers, giving joy to the Diana failure as the 4th prize won in the 2006 financial year.

During its history, specifically the first time that the division of sections was carried out for two years (1985 and 1986), Diana participated in the Special Section. She managed to reach the podium in the highest category and getting two second prizes from Eduardo Guillén and Antonio Grau, respectively.

Location

Every March, the Diana falla plants its monuments on Calle Pintor Llorens, next to the intersection with Paseo del Saladar. That is where she had her house for years and now it is the place where they place her tent during the holidays.

Diana Failure Charges

Since 1974, the Diana falla has had adult representation of presidents and adult and children of older falleras. The first president was Pepe Ramis, elected in 74 for the Fallas of 1975, together with his senior fallera Ana Ortiz and the Fallera Mayor Infantil Vicenta Sau. It was not until the failures of 78 that they had the first Children's President: Nicolás Gimeno.
