Saladar fault: history, location and charges

12 2022 April - 12: 12

The Saladar fault, located at the intersection of Diana street and the homonymous walk, is one of the historical ones of the Dénia parties. Despite not participating in the early days of the Fallas of the city, since it was born it has become one of the most competitive and most involved districts in the party. Its monuments compete for the prizes every March in the First Section.

History

The Saladar fault is, without a doubt, one of the commissions with the most history in Dénia. However, she was not one of the founders of the party due to the lack of stability of a neighborhood that was being born. But in the so-called second epoch of the Fallas, she came together to erect her monuments in a now emblematic space visible along all of Diana Street.

First attempts as part of the Falla Centro

In the 50s, the promenade was built that became the emblem of the Saladar district. With this project is when the feeling of neighborhood begins to emerge. Proof of this is the burning of bonfires between 1950 and 1953 in front of the image of San Juan that appears on the facade of numbers 33 and 35 on Calle Diana. A party that did not finish curdling among the people. Nor did it do so a few years before, when the Fallas districts were established in Dénia in the well-known meeting of the Neutral Bar, where since Saladar was considered a neighborhood still with little entity, it was included within the demarcation of the Falla Centro.

After the first attempts to bring the fire festival to the neighbourhood, it was not until 1967, at the beginning of the second period of the fallas in our city, that the Saladar was incorporated as one more district of the fallas festival.

First monument and shield design

The first meeting to constitute the fallera commission was held in house Aunt Vicenta Guijarro, Name that today receives the casal of failure, bringing together all interested youth and neighbors of Saladar.

For the realization of the monument, the renowned Alicante artist Ramón Marco was sought, who under a contract of 60.000 pesetas presented a fault where in one scene he had Aunt Vicenta as a doll, who, according to some collected comments, showed his satisfaction for the honor to be represented there. This scene is what gave rise to the shield, designed by Alfredo Montero.

First Prize of the Fallas

But it is in 1970 when he reached the great success of the commission. Again, the artist Ramon Marco built the failure dedicating his argument to the increase in food prices as a result of the large influx of tourists. In this monument the jury would match the first prize.

The fault that neighborhood has made

Over the years, the Falla Distrito Saladar has characterized itself as a popular falla that has tried to share the spirit of the fire festival with neighbors and friends. The making of floats, decorations for presentations and a long history in making its own monument made the commission recognized for the good work of its falleros and collaborators, among which the aforementioned Alfredo Montero, Ramón Marí, Ximo Gavilà, José Serra and Norberto Cervera stand out. , among many others.

The Saladar commission is identified by its commitment to and relationship with the neighbourhood, a neighborhood that time and people have shaped and where thousands of people live and work. The Falla Saladar is also part of its history.

Location

The Saladar ground fault at the junction of Diana Street and the Paseo del Saladar.

History of charges

Since its participation in the Josephine festivities of Dénia began, the Saladar fault has had both adult and child representation. José Gasent and Rosa Flor Perelló were the first president and first major fallera of the commission, sharing the year with the children's charges José Argudo and Magda Tomás.
