The problem of nightlife in Dénia for the summer: "It is one of the great sources of concern"

21 June 2022 - 13: 53

Dénia's high season is just around the corner. During the strong weeks of summer, the city is expected to quadruple its population, as has been the case for years. With this, once again, the coexistence of neighbors and visitors will be put to the test, forced to share spaces that are not so large for everyone. Although the greatest concern comes when the sun goes down, because the night brings with it another type of movement that puts rest in the houses at risk.

Nightlife has been causing problems practically since it resumed its activity. After a certain time, around the clubs, the violence increases. The episodes of aggressions and fights alarmingly multiplied in August and September 2021. However, several months later it is still a cause for concern, especially now that we are approaching the high summer season.

Booster for the weekend

Carlos Nieto, chief inspector of the National Police of Dénia, has referred this morning, during the presentation of the special security device for the summer, about these events. He stated that there are "unpleasant incidents on weekends" around entertainment venues, which "are giving us so many problems," he admitted.

There is a coordination between the Local Police and the National Police to deal with the problems that arise around this life close to the party business. In addition, on weekends, the workforce is reinforced to be able to deal with the multiple incidents resulting from the increase in activity. In fact, the Local Police allocates three night patrols to carry out this control from Monday to Thursday, going to four during the weekend.

"It is one of the great sources of concern and problems in any city," Nieto assumed, pointing out that the operations were adapting to said problem.

Intervene without stigmatizing

Javier Scotto, Councilor for Citizen Protection, has also referred to these altercations indicating that leisure at night should not be stigmatized, as it is something deeply rooted in "our Mediterranean lifestyle", but that excesses should be avoided. "There are many ways to have fun without having to start a fight at six in the morning outside a nightclub."

This is from the year 2022, we are in 2023 and everything remains the same. Restaurant terraces, where the owners, no longer being parties, allow the use of songs and a megaphone at one in the morning. It is inconceivable!! Music is not allowed on terraces, but if the performances of unknown people, with amplified sound equipment, every day, those at least, they leave at 12 at night….. my goodness, Dénia, who has you seen and who sees you.

How much will Grimal take for a cobblestone, a paste

I think it is inconceivable that there is a nightclub in the center of Denia (its, I know, being its owner, has a lot of weight) at what price? To the lack of civility that greatly damages the neighborhood, but at a high level. It would also be necessary to control the volume of the music on Carrer la Mar, which surely does not respect the permitted decibels and that there be a lot of police reinforcement, not only on the weekend because for the tourist, every night is the weekend.
Another problem is rentals through platforms such as airbnb, people who have enjoyed resting in their apartment for years and who religiously pay their taxes, have had to choose to sell or close their apartment, after having affected their mental health, the noise of neighboring guests (drunk talks for whole nights on balconies or terraces, going up and down stairs with a lot of noise throughout the night, throwing a glass or a bottle off the balcony, and a long etcetera for that there are no measures and the police say that they cannot intervene. Denia is a tourist city, we are aware of this, but, since the population quadruples in summer, let us who live in it throughout the year pay the consequences and pay the taxes that we do not they are few and when summer arrives they trample us? There is no right and surely measures can be taken, if you try.

It is a shame that the city council of denia has given disco licenses in the middle of calle campo, and at the same time allows full-throttle music in the bars of carrer la mar until 3 or 4 in the morning and, once they close, the drunks scream down the street
Little respect for the neighbors who live in those areas such as Magallanes, Calle Campos, Carrer la Mar, etc., who have to put up with noise and more noise every weekend so that a few earn money.

Do as you did 20 years ago and put the clubs outside the urban core that don't bother anyone there.

I assure you that if the mayor or some important councilor lived in one of those streets, many of those bars would have closed long ago….. but of course, as long as their sleep is not affected, nothing matters to them….

A shame that Denia has in an urban center as residential as it is, all full of well and nightclubs, what nonsense and little respect for the residents of Denia this council has with this issue.

I don't care since I don't live near there and it doesn't affect me, but sometimes when I pass by and hear the scandal it makes me think of the neighbors what they have to put up with and it's a shame they have to put up with this.

Please, Mayor Vicent Grimalt, do something about it and allow the neighbors to rest easy in their homes that they are fully entitled to do so.

The solution is not to put more police, it is to remove those licenses and put restrictions just like you put on Loreto street for noise

I know that these words are useless but at least I contribute my grain of sand to see if together we put pressure on the city council and it does something

All right. It's a shame that there are people, like Javier Reyes' comment, who show so little empathy and common sense towards those most affected, who are the neighbors.

Find out about the salary that person has that is available on the web, transparency denia, municipal corporation, you will see his curriculum and his payroll, I already tell you that for what he charges he works hard, and cares about what he does, and Before you tell me if I'm from the party or if I know him, I'll tell you that I've never voted and based on what I see, so before giving your opinion, find out that it's very easy to criticize from anonymity.

Very good man, you say that personally to the drunks who are swarming outside the premises, go down to the street and live the experience, instead of blurting out the little phrase from your office table, that we pay among all the neighbors, that We suffer this rabble. You have abandoned those who voted for you and pay your standard of living.

We are going to applaud with our ears the more than deficient management of the problem. It doesn't matter who you vote for, that doesn't matter. I love the “inform yourself”… management is not only deficient but also generates, promotes and maintains the problem, clap your hands if you want.
