The surveillance season on Dénia beaches is brought forward this year and begins today

The councilor of Beaches, Pepe Doménech, has explained at a press conference the news for the summer 2023 of the services provided on the beaches of Dénia.

The lifeguard and surveillance service on the beaches begins today, June 1, a week earlier than last year. The service will run until October 1 and will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m. in June and September and from 10:30 a.m. to 20:00 p.m. in July and August. The lifeguard and surveillance team will be made up of a total of 100 people, with 62 people working daily in the high season –July and August-. The service will continue until October 1.

There will be 8 lifeguard posts and 20 surveillance chairs, counting the one that has been added on Costa de la Calma beach, on Altaret river street.

Furthermore, the Cova Tallada It will have a person in charge of surveillance from June 15 to July 31, between 14:00 p.m. and 20:00 p.m.

This year the informational public address service that was launched last year will continue. The hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 18:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. "to respect the rest of the neighbors," Doménech pointed out. The messages will be broadcast this summer, in addition to Spanish and Valencian, in English and French, at the busiest points of the 8 city beaches.

The councilor has also pointed out that, from today, the presence of dogs on the beaches is restricted to that of the north breakwater and has recalled the prohibition of making fire on the night of Sant Joan. In addition, he has commented that the state of the beaches can be known in real time through the Safe Beach mobile application.

adapted bathroom service

One more year, the Dénia City Council intends to facilitate bathing for people with reduced mobility. The adapted bathing service will take place on the beaches of Marineta Cassiana, Punta del Raset, Marines (Mascarell street) and Bovetes (Carrer de Passarell), in July and August, from 11:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m. The period from June 15 to 30 and from September 1 to 15 will only provide service on the Punta del Raset beach, from 11:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m.

A bunk bed and a larger changing room booth have been included in the inventory of adapted material. In addition, two cranes and roller walkways have been acquired through a grant of 3.000 euros from the Ministry of Equality and Inclusive Policies to facilitate access to the water that will be used on the beaches of Punta del Raset and Marineta.

To make use of the service, you must make an appointment by phone, in a maximum period of three days in advance in the case of individual users. Groups of more than 5 people will have to inform one week in advance in order to manage the necessary means and the location of the group.

Beaconing, cleaning and public toilets

June 15 will be the start date of the beach cleaning, which will be carried out at night (from 0:00 a.m. to 08:00 a.m.) with different machinery and a staff of 23 people in high season; including the use of a rotating blade eventually in the Trampolín cove, the mouth of the Girona river and the Amboixar ravine. The service will be carried out until September 30. In addition, the coasts will have batteries of containers for recycling at the main accesses

Regarding the beacons, 11 entry and exit channels for boats will be installed on the beaches of the Rotates, Marineta, Marines, Bovetes, Molins, Almadraba and Deveses.

At the same time, two new public toilets have been installed on Las Marines beach and on Blay Beach. These will be operational throughout the lifeguard season.

Library and signaling

In the month of January, 11.990 euros (VAT included) were invested in the renewal of the outdated indicative signs between the town center and Nova Dénia. Likewise, the signs for the access to the sanitary posts on the beaches of Almadrava, els Molins and les Deveses were renewed. This initiative will continue with the rest of the posters, from Nova Dénia to les Deveses, also renewing two conduct panels on Molins beach.

Also at the beginning of the year, concrete walkways were installed in Raset, Marineta Cassiana and Marines, the paving of Paseo de les Rotes was renovated and two booths for the library service were purchased.

In total, says the councilor, the actions have involved an investment of approximately 70.000 euros.

For the service of the libraries on the beaches, the concessionaire company will hire four people, two from Creama Dénia and another two from the Confederation of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities (COCEMFE).

    Mr. Domenech should be concerned with monitoring compliance with his regulations. For example, with regard to the prohibition of the presence of dogs on all the beaches except the one on the north breakwater. One only has to go around any of the beaches to verify the systematic non-compliance carried out by dog ​​owners walking them and facilitating their games and "evacuations", with total impunity. Oh, and that nobody thinks of telling them anything, because the answers are anything but kind.
    Why doesn't the Municipal Police carry out surveillance rounds? Why aren't all those who break this rule penalized? Take action on the matter, please.
