The 33 projects that will mean "the greatest transformation of Dénia in recent decades"

27 September 2021 - 08: 40

This Friday, the entire local executive summoned the media to convey to the residents of Dénia the objectives that have been set for this 2021-2022 academic year.

These are 80 projects that the City Council has divided into three blocks: Social Policies, Future Policies, and Improvement and Modernization of the City. It is the latter that undoubtedly stands out the most, since it encompasses 33 projects. In addition, according to the mayor himself, Vicent Grimalt, will mean "the greatest urban transformation that Dénia has experienced in recent decades."

These are the projects that the council undertakes to carry out in the coming months and the actions they will carry out to do so:

Redevelopment of the Glorieta and surroundings

The tender will be held before the end of this year, with the execution of the works during 2022. It will have a budget of 967.429,26 euros, making it one of the largest urban projects in the coming months.

According to the Councilor for Town Planning, Maria Josep Ripoll, the remodeling will be very continuous, "altering little" bower central square.

Improvement of Marqués de Campo street

Although a work was expected that would create a unique platform in Marqués de Campo, eliminating the traces of the road, for the moment the council will only invest in repairing the pavement of the damaged areas.

The drafting of the project will be before the end of 2021 and the execution of the works will be during 2022. They will have a budget of € 330.309,28.

Rehabilitation of the Torrecremada House

The day is approaching when Torrecremada will become the new headquarters of the Universitat d'Alacant, but today the house where the classes will take place and which will host hundreds of university students is in a state of abandonment. But for a short time.

The City Council has announced that the start of the works will be at the beginning of 2022. These will have a budget of 2,5 million euros, with 50% financing from the Generalitat Valenciana.

Completion of the Valgamediós square

The works in what is popularly known as Plaza Oeste have been a headache for the commission of the homonymous fault since the project was presented. The redevelopment affected the area where it has planted its monuments for so many years.

And the completion of the work did not help, as it created an independent height with a central roundabout, preventing the placement of the fault. However, from the consistory they responded that it was only the first phase and that the union of spaces at the same height would be projected before Fallas.

This project is the one that has been announced now, although they already warn that the works will not be carried out before next March. But yes in 2022, with a budget of about 100.000 euros.

Definitive public parking in Les Rotes

El public parking de Les Rotes It has been one of the great successes of the last summers. The council acquired the Minigolf land, close to Punta Negra, and turned it into a temporary parking area.

However, the idea of the City Council is to create there a parking lot with about 150 spaces, including cars, vehicles for people with reduced mobility, caravans and motorcycles.

An investment that in its day was announced that it would have a budget of 200.000 euros, and whose bidding and execution is planned for 2022.

Completion of the Joan Fuster tram

Joan Fuster Avenue is close to ending its long period of works. And, therefore, the moment when we see the long-awaited tram pass by on its new track is getting closer and closer.

These works of the Generalitat are practically finished, pending the security report that will be issued by the council in the coming months.

Climbing wall

It was the winning project of the Participative Budgets of 2019. However, a series of misfortunes, highlighting the DANA of September of that same year that caused great damage to the municipal sports center, have forced the demanded installation to be delayed.

With a budget of 24.000 euros, the climbing wall of the sports center will be a reality, it seems, during this 2021. Two years later than planned, but better late.

  1. Jose Luis says:

The thing about the Carretera de las Marinas is the greatest shame for a city council in all of Spain.

  2. Pablo says:

Man müsste zuerst die Gleise legen und erst dann den Bahnhof bauen. Aber darüber diskutierte man schon ab dem Jahr, als ich nach Denia kam - 1999

  3. Adela says:

Not a single action on the Las Marinas highway that is in a sorry state. We pay taxes and they do not revert to any improvement. From the restaurant Fernando onwards it is fatal.

  4. I xelo says:

Congratulations and Congratulations on the 33 projects and improvements for the city.
One of the ones that I liked the most is the headquarters of the University of Alicante in Torrecremada.
Much courage and strength to undertake these projects, which will undoubtedly change Denia and modernize it for the future.

  5. Jose Hernandez Garcia says:

For many years we have been demanding from the MI City Council of Denia the sewerage of Picardó street and its asphalt, it is always flooded with water and no solution has yet been given. We pay our taxes like the rest of the taxpayers and it seems that since this is not in the center of the city, it does not seem to matter to our authorities. Well, they should know and in fact they know that there is a hotel, urbanizations and one of the best beaches on the Dianense coast, which receives thousands of visitors throughout the year, giving a terrible image of Denia when they access the beach of Les Bovetes . I hope they finally find a solution to the lamentable state of this street.

  6. Kika flowers says:

You are completely right. Denia has changed a lot. Its not the same city as it was to be. People dont like what they are doing but we can't say anything. Whete I work people who normally liked Denia they have decided no to come back due to theres nothing to do. They are thinking just in roundabouts and rising the taxes for nothing !! Im. a spanish woman who lives in Denia. Its awful all the dlthings they are doing without asking people what they want.

  7. Janet says:

All very commendable but for the residents of Denia but no mention of increasing the places to park cars. Over a period it will simply drive people away from the town into the arms of the out of town shopping center where parking is ample and furthermore it's free!

  8. Enrique says:

Totally agree, we have been in Denia on the Las Marinas road since 2001 and there has not been a single action to improve the accesses where pedestrians move along the shoulder of the road a few centimeters from the vehicles that form during the summer Kilometric queues at the height of the Fernando restaurant, an area that is periodically flooded in the event of storms that drag the sand, depositing it in the pedestrian area and that is not removed, making it difficult for pedestrians to pass. All this summer there has been a sandbar in the area of the pedestrian crossing of the aforementioned restaurant without being able to remove it despite the fact that it was communicated to the City Council. In short, that they do not fill their mouths, that they are not capable of doing even the easiest thing.

  9. Leon says:

Having seen what I have seen, I come to a conclusion: No member of the consistory or influential person lives on Calle Ondara, Avda Valencia, Impresor Botella and Avda. of the Valencian courts
Therefore we will continue to pass the neighbors and staff who move to the west of Denia crossing the gas station through the ridiculous pedestrian crossing that they have enabled and thus justify the non-urbanization of Ondara street; street abandoned to its fate and that is becoming an urban garbage dump.
DENIA is life! But not like that

  10. Juan Ignacio says:

It seems that we who live in the marinas do not pay taxes and we do not have the right to a budget to repair the catastrophic state of that area.

    • Guadalupe says:

It is clearly insulting that the navies are left to their own devices. It must belong to another locality, because you pass Olympic, the situation is unfortunate. Pedestrian access is DANGEROUS, if you are not going to take care of it, do not give a building permit, it is developable because there is water and electricity, but little else. A little responsibility, do not just look at the skin.

  11. Carmen says:

The area of the Marinas does not belong to Denia? There is no planned performance and, from the Fernando Restaurant onwards, it is a horror.

    • Kika flowers says:

I live in Denia and the street is never cleaned. It's full of dog shit that people don't pick up. Full of trash that flies out of the dumpsters. I lived in the maeinas and years ago everything was very careful. Now nobody does anything. But complaining does not solve anything. It is quite a disaster. They are only interested if in it. Hospital they treat us in Castilian or Valencian, the rest nothing at all. Outrageous!!

  12. Margherita says:

I BELIEVE YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN YOUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REHABILITATION, REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF THE «ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE» WHICH LOOKS MORE LIKE A GARBAGE IN FRONT OF OUR RESIDENCY AT NO. 5 JOAN FUSTER AVENUE !! PLEASE ACCEPT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY FIRST !! THANK YOU.

  13. Pillar Re says:

We have been asking for a continuation train station from Gandia to Denia for years

    • Pablo says:

Man müsste zuerst die Gleise legen und erst dann den Bahnhof bauen. Aber darüber diskutierte man schon ab dem Jahr, als ich nach Denia kam - 1999
