15 2021 April - 00: 33

The bay of Palma de Mallorca hosted, last weekend, the Spanish Formula Kite Cup and the Cutty Sark FKSS 2021. With wind between 8 and 15 knots, the athletes of Dénia showed their great potential.

On the one hand, Kiko Peiró and Sebastián Ducos, from RCN Dénia, achieved 4th and 5th place respectively, in the 1st round of the Cutty Sark FKSS 2021. In the General classification of the Spanish Cup, Kiko Peiró achieved a magnificent 3rd position demonstrating his excellent progression after training this winter. The two athletes are very proud of the results obtained in this regatta.

On the other hand, the three athletes from the Marina el Portet de Dénia Sports Club also excelled in the second test of the circuit, the Cutty Sark, held in Palamós. The best classified Spaniard was the Valencian Álex Climent who finished in seventh place overall. In women, Gisela Pulido achieved a second place and in the Grand Master category, Riu Gerónimo Lages also obtained silver.

After it was not possible to start on Saturday due to bad weather conditions, on Sunday the bay of Palamós allowed to do nine races.

After the first two tests in Mallorca and Palamós, the general classification of the Cutty Sark FKSS 2021 circuit is being led by the Russian Denis Taradin with the Polish Jakub Jurkowski, second and Álex Climent, third. In women, the circuit is headed by the Polish Julia Damasiewicz ahead of Gisela Pulido and the Russian Sofia Kotliar.

Climent, the two-time champion of the Cutty Sark FKSS circuit, finished seventh after a couple of problems in the races, however he hopes to be able to regain positions in the next races. The Valencian explained that: "second round the wind rose a lot and I couldn't hold the 19 kite, so I was flying, in the third I had problems with the kite and from the fourth I had to catch the 15 in. instead of the 11, since the rescue boat hooked and broke the bridles of my 11. I was going quite strong and sometimes lost my way ”.

For her part, Gisela Pulido has been satisfied because “I have gone from less to more and in the end I finished second tied with third. It takes away the nailed thorn that I had last week in Mallorca where after I was disqualified I stayed in the fourth final position. Now to rest and in a few weeks to Valencia and Castellón ”.

And it is that the circuit will resume on May 8 in Valencia where athletes will fly over the sea again.
