Last Friday, Dénia hosted the first Intercentres Valencian Pilota Day, an event organized by the Department of Sports of the City Council of Dénia with the collaboration of Federation of Pilota Valenciana and the Dénia Pilot ClubThe initiative, aimed at educational centres in the municipality, sought to promote the practice of this traditional sport among young people and strengthen ties between students from different schools and institutes.
Competition and training at the El Rovellet trinquet
The day took place in the trinquet The Rovellet and in the large pediment, from 9:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m. Students from the institutes participated Maria Ibars, Sorts de la Mar e Historian Chabas, as well as schools Marist, Scientia y Paidos. During the event, games were played in the following modalities: raspall y one-wall, as well as explanations about the game and its rules.
Professional pelotaris and new one-wall courts
In addition to the competition, the young people enjoyed Workshops and talks given by professional pilots Tomás II (Juan Bautista Buigues) and Néstor Portes. The organization of the activities was carried out by the students of the IES Historian Chabás, forming mixed teams of five players from 1st and 2nd year of ESO.
With the participation of virtually fifty teamsThe event was a huge success and is expected to be the first in a series of events that will help consolidate Valencian pilota among the youngest.
