21 2022 April - 11: 26

Martina Gil Miralles and Massimo Cippitelli Monjes, trained in the teams of the Dénia Básquet, participated with the Valencian Cadet and Infantile National Teams, respectively, in the Spanish Championships by Autonomous Communities held in Huelva between April 9 and 13, 2022, managing to return home with a medal after performing an excellent tournament.

The cadet team managed to win, so Martina returned home with the Gold medal by beating Catalonia in the final of the Spanish Championship in a disputed match that filled the entire Valencian expedition with joy.

The women's cadet team did not know defeat throughout the event, successively beating Andalusia, La Rioja, Madrid and the Canary Islands in the group stage, and then beating the Canary Islands in the semifinals and reaching the grand final.

The title won by the Valencian Community is the second in a row in this important competition, endorsed by the Higher Sports Council and the Spanish Basketball Federation. It also means for our city to have two players capable of achieving that merit, after the championship obtained last year by Marta Chico López of the 2005 generation.

For Martina, currently a Terralfas player, it is also the second medal she has added in her history after the Bronze achieved in the Spanish Children's Championship in the Christmas of 2020.

Massi, for his part, finally made his debut in this important type of competition after suspending the Spanish Alevín Championship in which he was going to participate representing our community at Easter 2020. After a long preparation, this past Christmas they got up again restrictions due to the pandemic and the Children's and Cadet Championships were again suspended by the authorities.

Fortunately, the improvement in circumstances has allowed him to be called up for Easter 2022 and the young player, who along the way has joined the ranks of Horta Godella, has finally been able to demonstrate all his abilities with the award, in addition to bringing home home a bronze medal that undoubtedly tastes like glory.

The Valencian Children's National Team had a great tournament, losing only in the group stage against Andalusia and then in the semifinals against Madrid, to end up winning the match for the Bronze medal against the Galician National Team.

For the Dénia Basketball School, where they have many of their best friends, teammates for many years, it is an immense joy and a great boost that players trained from the beginning in their teams show such a high level. «Examples such as those of Marina and Massi, and many others who have reached their height in the recent past, undoubtedly motivate all the members of our school to continue working and growing, and herald an unbeatable future for this sport in our city. », They point out from the Dénia Básquet club.
