More agents and new vehicles: Dénia reinforces its maritime and land security operation for summer

21 June 2024 - 15: 38

The councilor of Citizen Security and Civil Protection, Javier Scotto, presented this morning of Friday, June 21, at the marina Marina Dénia, the entire security and mobility reinforcement device that the Dénia Local Police has prepared for this summer. Javier Scotto has been accompanied by the Chief Mayor of the PLD, José Vicente Estruch, and by the General Director of the Marina de Denia, Gabriel Martínez. In this way, the Dénia City Council has presented all the operational services that will be made available to citizens and tourists for this summer, by sky, sea and land.

Gabriel Martínez has expressed "his great satisfaction that the City Council has chosen this setting to present the entire security device for this summer, which will surely be the best maritime service in the Mediterranean." As Scotto has highlighted, "during the entire year, Dénia lives off its beachfront, and that is why we must make visible the importance of the city's connection with the sea, and what are the axes and nuclei of Dénia, which They therefore demand that there be maritime and land security.

Ground surveillance of beaches

The special surveillance service of the beaches of the municipality, which is carried out every summer by the Dénia Local Police during the high season - from July 1 to August 31 -, will be reinforced this year thanks to the incorporation of 18 new officers to the staff. In total, one officer and 17 agents distributed in different shifts will be assigned to the beach surveillance service, which will be provided every day of the week. The councilor highlighted "that this summer, in addition to the maritime service with a boat, the Local Police has two special all-terrain vehicles for the beach and a pick-up type all-terrain vehicle for rural environmental patrol."

On the other hand, as José Vicente Estruch has explained, "this entire staff has received training in first aid, first actions in rescues in the aquatic environment and beaches, as well as in medical interventions, approved by the Ministry of Health."

Maritime unit

In addition to the distribution of troops by land, the Local Police will launch the Maritime Surveillance Service, which covers the entire bathing area from the Cova Tallada, on the southern limit of the term, to the Molinell River, on the northern limit. The maritime surveillance service was created in 1999, with the purpose of carrying out awareness work for all users of the Dénia beaches, bathers and practitioners of nautical sports, and at that time, the marking of the beaches began to delimit the spaces for the exclusive use of bathers and the prohibition of boats in these spaces.

«During all these years of existence, the maritime surveillance service has been growing and evolving, to work not only on the beaches, but also with the beacons, and the complications that come with the work of monitoring more than 20 km of coast, and in which the main objective has been the safety of the beaches and users, as well as maritime safety," explained the Councilor for Citizen Security and Civil Protection. «The maritime unit is in charge of ensuring the security of the first coastline, but also providing assistance, help and advice. There has been growth in this unit, which is the one we present today, where it has gone from a small boat four meters in length to the means available today," Scotto continued. «This summer, an extraordinary reinforcement of the service has been arranged with two jet skis, which will patrol the bathing areas, along with two boats destined for this task, a rigid cabin boat seven meters in length and another semi-rigid boat six meters long. length".

Summer mobility

Javier Scotto has also highlighted that the Dénia taxi service will be reinforced, approved by resolution of the general directorate of transport. This reinforcement will take place between July 1 and September 15, with taxis from Ondara, El Verger, Els Poblets, Xábia, Pedreguer, and which, for the first time, will be extended to taxis from Gata de Gorgos and Pego.

The bus service will also be reinforced, "thanks to the City Council's municipal effort of nearly 32.000 euros, to improve the bus service in summer, while the bus transportation project is completed," Scotto indicated. From June 28 to September 3, bus frequencies will be increased, reinforcing different time slots and extending the services provided:

  • Calm coast: frequencies every 30 minutes, and two services are extended, one at 11.00:23 a.m., and another at 00:23 p.m. to extend the night service, which will arrive in Racons at 30:XNUMX p.m.
  • Marines: frequency every 20 minutes, and the service will also be available until 23:40 p.m.
  • Les Rotes: every hour, and two services are extended, one more at 22:00 p.m. and another at 23:00 p.m.
  • Hospital: the frequency increases every hour, and two services are added, one extending to 21:30 p.m. and another to 22:30 p.m.

Other measures for this summer

On the other hand, the special summer device is completed with the work of the aerial surveillance drone unit of the 21 kilometers of coast, the marine reserve and the Montgó Natural Park, with the control of compliance with the closure of paths and rural roads on days of extreme fire risk, with the service of identification bracelets for minors on the municipality's beaches; and with the information and assistance work offered to tourists.

Finally, Scotto has stated that the Dénia Local Police is a police force that has enormous adaptability, functionality and that above all offers security, both to citizens and tourists. "Maritime, informational, economic, healthcare, medical and environmental security."

Let's see if they control the souped-up motorcycles that are hell at night, there is no one to rest, they go out in flocks every morning with unbearable noise pollution, they even do it in front of the police stations, playing races, circulating on the sidewalks between races. Now, the police checkpoints are only in the mornings, screwing up the working people and the delivery vans, and at night they are conspicuous by their absence.

The response to permanent citizens is zero! They are incompetent people who refuse to come or defend the residents, when you call to report they don't come. This weekend they burned a vehicle outside my house and they told us to take care of it!! We should throw them all away! They like to ride motorcycles and feel important, that they do it in their free time and that they help, defend, that is to say that they do the work that we all pay for!!

    Ban bonfires on the beach.
    That is nonsense.

Let's hope they have greater control over the openings and closings of bars and beach bars that send decibels through the triumphal arch and annoy neighboring communities.

It seems absurd to me that
The people have to pay more agents and more cars and for what? Denia has a quiet tourism and I don't see any need to put more agents and vehicles,
What's more, if you call the police because they have broken in to steal, they arrive hours later, if you come to declare that something has been broken in your car, they treat you like a criminal, with this type of police you don't feel safer, but quite the opposite, more police more control, because they have nothing to protect the people!!!!

A suggestion for the councilor of Citizen Security and for the Mayor of the PLD. In the entire Las Rotas area, many motorhomes park daily, with total impunity, despite being prohibited and clearly marked with large, clear and clearly visible traffic signs. Most of them, displaying incredible audacity, do it next to and under the signs. Since the PLD's troops have been reinforced, couldn't they enforce the Coastal Law and punish violators? I assume that this task will be included in your normal responsibilities
