What are the "bugs" that have appeared on the beaches of Dénia and what danger do they pose?

May 14 from 2022 - 09: 00

At the beginning of this week, complaints from neighbors who had run into an unwanted company on a Dénia beach reached this newsroom. It was, according to the testimonies, a large group of insects that they could not recognize and that had caused some injuries to the torso of a swimmer. However, despite what it may seem at first glance, the truth is that it is not a "bug".

It was over the weekend, Marineta Cassiana, when this proliferation began to be seen. These beings, similar to small cockroaches, come out of the posidonia and algae found on the shore. They have ended up there from afar, since it is a spice that comes from Mexico.

The important thing: are they dangerous? Despite the aforementioned case in which a bather suffered small injuries to her back, according to the Environment technicians of the Dénia City Council there is no danger. They have assured that they are harmless and do not sting.

In fact, they are not insects. It is a species of isopod crustacean, specifically of the genus idotea. Nor can we speak of a plague, since they have hardly been seen again after those days.

Therefore, there is nothing to worry about. It is just another member of the diverse and rich fauna of our coastline, which does not pose any risk to people other than a small and punctual scare.

It's a shame to find people who think like Luis.
It's a shame to find people who think like Luis, narrow minded!

Tourists, bugs are tourists. What dangers do they pose? It depends, there are educated ones and a high percentage does not hesitate to make a wide display of bad manners. invivid, dirty and annoying attitudes for the environment and for the neighbors, to the cry of: "I have paid to come here"

You seem to have some big problems with foreigners and tourists, Luis? Take away all the tourists and this country can go back to be a third world country and Denia can go back to be a small fishing village again! Without Foreign Money This country is nothing.

Write in Spanish if you want to make yourself understood in Spain. In each City Council they offer very cheap courses that will be of great help in their immersion and integration in Spain. I already know, first hand, the superior feeling of foreigners like you, who believe they are the saviors of the world and pay the lives of countries considered inferior, either by going for tourism or living like colonialists in a society that deep down they despise, as shown by in your comment... If you discover that in some parts of Spain there are industries, companies, factories etc... that there are also universities where the same careers are taught as in your country and that there is a society beyond the speculation of the coast . They say that BlackPool is a good option to invest now. Cheer up

Luis always has something to say about everything, even if it's not relevant or takes the obvious dumb turn.
