Sonia Pérez resigns as president of the FEMMICC of Dénia due to pressure from the festival-goers

Sonia Pérez resigned yesterday as president of the FEMMICC in Dénia due to pressure from the festival-goers who did not agree with the management of the annual accounts during her term. This decision was announced at the general assembly held yesterday, where the now acting president (until the elections take place in 30 days) described the situation as "a witch hunt".

"FEMMICC's accounts have never been so transparent, to the point of appearing on the website linking notes with expenses," Pérez defended himself, stressing that he had "been available 24/7 to address any questions or differences regarding the accounts."

She also claimed that she was aware that there were "parallel circles and WhatsApp groups in which people were talking about the fact that the accounts were not well done even before they were made," and added that "no previous president had ever been exposed even before presenting them."

She also clarified that it was not true that the treasurer had resigned, as some festival-goers claimed, but that she had promised to finish her position as treasurer. "It is true that due to her personal life she did not have enough time and I helped her. But in no case can my way of acting be considered illegal or outside the statutes," explained Pérez.

Throughout the assembly, various festival-goers asked the president and treasurer for explanations of the annual accounts, clarifying that it was not a personal matter, but a problem that was perhaps due to "poor management, perhaps due to ignorance", therefore, they did not accuse the management of the FEMMiCC of having stolen money in any way.

Despite the explanations given by the president and treasurer in response to the doubts of the festival-goers, they were not satisfied by some inconsistencies between the data provided by the board and their own calculations, which is why the accounts for the 2023-2024 financial year were not approved.

Now begins the period for presenting candidates to form a new board of directors, with Amparo Mata being the most popular name to take over the position of president according to comments among the festival-goers.
