UNED faces the dilemma of the coverage of sexist violence in journalism

November 19 from 2019 - 09: 40

CA UNED Dénia has already begun with its calendar of study workshops, as well as university extension courses.

The program during this month of November and beginning of December is:

November 21 Day - Training Course for Library Users. In this course, students will be trained in the loan service, to search for their bibliography on the Library's website, to manage their loans, reservations, history, to locate the documents on the shelves, to make bibliographic citations, and everything necessary to function freely in the library.

November 27 Day - UNED Dialogues “Journalism in the face of gender equality and violence. Old and new dilemmas ”. Language is never innocent and that of the media is less. Has journalism managed to articulate an integrative and egalitarian discourse or does it still slip old topics that perpetuate machismo? This course will deepen the different topics covered in Gender Violence, addressing part of the conclusions obtained. The old clichés memorized during generations of profession, the fierce competition that today has skyrocketed with the digital press, the immediacy at the time of writing the news and the historical lack of an ethical code for all media are the great difficulties to the time that journalism, which after all constitutes a mirror of society, achieves a new discourse. Free event Open to any public. This activity is related to the UN Sustainable Development Goal No.5.

11 days to December 13 - The influence of stress on physical and brain development. Stress has become a concept that appears in all areas of life. There is talk of the importance of its control, activities to eliminate it are offered, but is it important or harmful? It also seems to influence brain development since childhood, therefore knowing the mechanisms that induce it and its consequences would be, in any case, a previous step that should be addressed. Another aspect that will be discussed in this course is whether this phenomenon has influence in different areas of everyday life, such as food and, in addition, whether or not it favors sports activity. Finally, its treatment and management will be addressed for a better quality of life. University extension course: enrollment is required to follow the course. This course is related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 3.

The university extension courses can be followed online or in person and are open to all public prior registration.
