DBC SUMA confirms its good playing moment and beats NB Alcoi

25 March 2024 - 10: 54

The senior men's team of the Dénia Basquet Club reaffirmed its good performance on the court by defeating NB Alcoi with authority in their last match. The victory was marked by a final score of 74-52 within the framework of the national first division.

Although NB Alcoi came into this match as co-leader of the standings on matchday twenty-two of the league, the development of the first period was not surprising, given the disparity between both teams in the table.

Initially, the visitors showed their strength with notable success from the perimeter, in addition to winning the fight under the boards, eventually having a notable advantage on the scoreboard (12-21). However, DBC knew how to compose itself and adjust its game both in defense and attack. An excellent performance in the second quarter changed the course of the game significantly, culminating with a three-pointer at the buzzer that allowed them to take the lead for the first time in the game (32-30).

During the second half, the home team consolidated its dominance on the field, widening the gap on the scoreboard and leaving little room for maneuver for the visitors, who found themselves outclassed in all facets of the game. The DBC exhibited strength in both areas of the field, highlighting the cohesion and determination of its players, who share a joint vision and commitment in this demanding national competition.

After the break for the Easter festivities, the team will face the final stage of the regular league with the aim of ensuring its qualification for the promotion playoffs, while continuing to work to face the coming challenges with the maximum possible preparation.

The DBC Autonomous Women's Senior is defeated against San Blas

For its part, the Autonomous Senior Women of the Dénia Básquet starred in an exciting match that culminated in a victory for the visiting team, San Blas, with a tight score of 57-61. The match was decided in the last minutes and a half of play, after the visitors overcame a disadvantage that they maintained for much of the match.

From the beginning, the match was marked by the intensity and determination of both teams, who sought to secure a victory that would allow them to remain in contention for promotion to the National category. The first quarter favored the locals, who stood out for their effectiveness in long-distance shooting, reaching a three-point lead (19-16).

The second period maintained the same tone, with a constant fight in each possession. San Blas took advantage of its superiority in height to generate play in the painted zone, thus balancing the score and taking a minimal advantage at halftime (30-29). After the restart, the visitors expanded their advantage, reaching a five-point difference through efficient zonal defense and success from the perimeter.

The match reached the last ten minutes with an open score, where both teams showed fierce determination to win. San Blas' strategy took effect in the decisive moments of the match, standing out in points in the paint and dominating the rebound, which allowed them to surpass the local team in the final stretch of the match.

Despite the defeat, the attitude and play shown by the home team was praised, whose effort was notable in the last home game of the season. DBC will close the season facing Tavernes after the Easter break. Throughout the year, the team has demonstrated its ability to compete in the category, and it is expected that they will continue to grow and achieve their goals in the future.

The Senior Male Preferential loses against Carcaixent

The DBC Senior Men's Preferential team suffered a narrow defeat on its visit to CSA Carcaixent, with a final score of 48-47. After having narrowly lost the previous week in Joan Fuster, DBC faced an opponent on a good streak, with seven consecutive victories in their last matches.

Despite the home team's impressive record of victories, those led by Carlos Vila showed determination from the beginning, surpassing the Valencians at the end of the first period with a ten-point lead (10-20). The fast-paced attack, quick transitions and solid defense were key to this initial dominance.

However, over the course of the match, the hosts intensified their defense, causing DBC to lose the ball and improving their offensive play, which led to a tie at halftime (29-29). The second half maintained equality, with outstanding defensive intensity on the part of both teams. Despite this, CSA Carcaixent managed to reach the last period with a minimum advantage of three points.

The last quarter passed in an atmosphere of equality until CSA Carcaixent broke the tie with a crucial free kick with just a few seconds remaining, placing themselves one point ahead on the scoreboard.

Those from Dénia had the opportunity to take the victory in the last possession of the game, but unfortunately a released shot did not find its target. Despite the sadness of this second consecutive defeat, the great effort and magnificent play shown by all the available players stood out, who fought to keep alive the hopes of fighting for permanence in the category.
