Since last December 15 and until April 1, twelve unemployed people come daily to Creama Dénia to train and continue perfecting their English. This intensive level B-1 course, of 280 teaching hours, is subsidized by Labora with the amount of 16.6323 euros. Its objective is to improve the employability of the participants thanks to the better management of their linguistic competence in English.
More than 50 people attended the call for this training action. All of them took a level test to check if they had sufficient knowledge of the language to be able to access the course and follow it without problems. The 12 places were covered without difficulty and, for the time being, there has been one loss due to placement that has been quickly replaced.
The group of students is quite heterogeneous, which does not prevent a very good atmosphere in class: their ages range between 21 and 60 years; the number of women is double that of men and the economic sectors to which their professional profiles belong or to which they want to join are also diverse – hospitality, care for the elderly, secretarial or social work. Long-term unemployed people and young people who have just finished their studies are also teaching.
Asked about their opinion of the course, most agree that they find it very interesting and like it because many different topics are covered; The teacher is very dynamic and proposes different types of activities for them to improve their skills when it comes to writing, speaking, understanding and reading English.
Finally, regarding the question of whether they would recommend this course, the answer is convincing: the whole group answers yes, affirms that they are learning a lot and in an agile way and, above all, as one of the most valued points, they lose the shame of speak in English. They emphasize that it is an eminently practical course in which a lot is learned and they continue with a great desire to continue learning.
