The Department of Culture organizes for the fifth consecutive year, and despite the adverse circumstances of this year, the Ultramar Dansa contemporary dance festival, the main objective of which is to promote and disseminate the most current and avant-garde contemporary dance that is being done throughout the state.

To this end, the festival's programming has been worked in three directions. On the one hand, to promote professional companies, with the participation of two Valencian companies and one from the Canary Islands, a community with which the festival organization has a tacit collaboration agreement. Performances by new promises of dance have also been scheduled, young professionals who are beginning their career and need institutional support to promote it. Finally, the festival encourages the collaboration of groups that work on dance from the point of view of generational and social integration.

The Ultramar Dansa festival will take place at the auditorium theater of the Social Center of Dénia, from November 11 to 15. A show has been scheduled for each day and, in addition, the screening of a documentary by the dancer and director of the Dénia Choreographic Center, Juan Bernardo Pineda.

Highlights of the program is the show of the Canarian company Nomada Sweet beasts, awarded five Réplica de las Artes Escénicas de Canarias awards in its 2018 edition, making it the best show of that year.

In addition, the assembly was selected to be included in the Catalog of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation AECID (Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation) 2019. This catalog of performing arts and music is the main tool for promotion, dissemination and cultural programming of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. It is prepared every two years by a committee of experts and includes a selection of quality proposals in all musical and stage genres and is the reference that Spanish embassies, consulates and cultural centers take around the world to nourish their annual programming with content and respond to promoters, festivals and other agents interested in Spanish artists.

There will also be a performance by the Alicante dancer Carlos Penalver, nominated in the category of 'best dancer' at the 2020 Valencian Performing Arts Awards for his performance in the show Quan els ocells prenen volWinner of the Alacant a Scene Award 2019 and which can be seen this year at the Ultramar Dansa festival.

A good opportunity to enjoy the best contemporary dance artistic proposals both from our community and other areas of the country and which the City Council strongly recommends to the general public and, especially, to all those linked to the world of arts and crafts. of dance. The Department of Culture has invited students and teachers of all dance schools in the city to attend all the shows for free.

To carry out the project, it has the collaboration of INAEM, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Valencian Institute of Culture and the Alicante Provincial Council.

The organization has taken all the security measures decreed by the health authorities and by the government, as is being done in all the programming with the public of the Department of Culture.
