Success at the Marina Alta Observatory: among the 50 best datasets in Spain

The outstanding work of Observatory Marina Alta by pacte'MA and Creama has been recognized in the #50Datasets contest, promoted by the Barcelona Open Data Initiative. In this year's edition, this project has been selected as one of the 50 most outstanding data sets nationwide.

This innovative challenge focuses on collection of highly useful open data to address the most pressing social challenges. The relevance of the applications and uses that we can derive from this data lies not only in the informative quality they offer, but also in their applicability for making intelligent decisions in the public sphere and the third sector, especially in relation to social care for people.

The rigorous criteria that have guided the choice of the best sets Data includes:

  • Usefulness in social decision making: data intended to facilitate decision-making in the field of social care services for various populations, ranging from the elderly to youth and vulnerable people.
  • Measurement of social indicators: data that serve to measure crucial social indicators, such as poverty, inclusion, migration, integration and equality, essential for designing effective interventions, whether public or entities in the social field.
  • Women's Rights Perspective: additional assessment for the inclusion of the women's rights perspective, with data breakdown by sex, thus contributing to gender equity in the information collected.
  • Data Quality: The quality of the data was evaluated in terms of territoriality, interoperability and updating, thus ensuring the reliability of the information provided.

The Marina Alta Observatory, supported by CREAMA and PACTE'MA, stands as a project subsidized by LABORA Valencian Employment and Training Service and the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, within the AVALEM TERRITORI program of the Generalitat Valenciana.
