The Minister of Justice, Elisa María Núñez, has reported the change of location of the premises on Pedreguer Street, destined in 2020 as a Gender Violence court, for security reasons, after meeting with Vicent Grimalt, mayor of the town, and the government team.

«Initially this space was intended for the care of victims of crime, offices for attention to violence against women and comprehensive forensic units. A couple of assessments have been made and it has been seen that the area where the building is located is very adjacent to a tram stop, which means there is a lot of movement of people; Furthermore, the premises only have one access door, so any victim could meet their attacker," Núñez mentioned.

In favor of the protection of the victims, it has been decided to use this premises for other purposes such as the Civil Registry or the transfer of any other court. The aforementioned gender violence services will remain in the judicial building.

Vicent Grimalt thanked the Councilor for "the intention to continue improving spaces, due to the need that this region has to have better judicial facilities than the current ones." The mayor has stated that an urgent motion will be carried out to approve the use of the premises for other purposes.

For her part, the Minister of Justice has indicated that the institution is finishing drafting a judicial infrastructure plan that includes the expansion of the Dénia Court, "although these types of projects take time." The expansion of the judicial offices will be carried out on a plot of 800 square meters adjacent to the Palace of Justice and transferred by the city council to the Ministry.
