- The façade of the shopping center will remain dark next Saturday, March 25, from 20:30 p.m. to 21:30 p.m. as a gesture of support against climate change.
The mall Portal de la Marina, owned by Lar España Real Estate Socimi and managed by Grupo Lar through Gentalia, will turn off the lights on its façade from 20:30 p.m. to 21:30 p.m. Winners will be announced in March to join the Earth Hour.
La Earth Hour is an initiative that was born in 2007 in Sydney uniting people, companies and institutions from more than 200 countries In order to draw attention to the problem of climate change. The action consists of turning off the lights of buildings and monuments for an hour. A simple gesture that has become one of the environmental actions with the greatest impact in the world, managing in past editions to turn off more than 17.000 monuments and buildings such as the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, the Royal Palace or the Sagrada Familia.
This year, the shopping center once again adds Earth Hour to a list of actions with which it maintains its commitment to the environment, among which stand out: the Iberdrola and Tesla electric vehicle charging stations, the Reciclos machines, with more than 120.000 containers collected in 2022, and an Ecozone equipped with a wide variety of containers that facilitate recycling. Regarding electricity and water supply, Portal de la Marina has managed to reduce its consumption by 20% compared to last year.
From Portal de la Marina they are impatiently awaiting this day, since, according to the words of Virginia Carrasco, director of the shopping center: “At Portal de la Marina we are very aware of the importance of taking care of our planet. We know that everything adds up and has a positive impact, so we not only joined this initiative, but we also invite all our users to participate from home”.
